On the Divine Resources of the Captain of the Host!

I tell you, things sure have been very stressful at work lately. We have had many changes in systems and processes that has caused much confusion and anxiety; we have had changes in leadership, we have had more workload and shifting priorities, and frankly I have faced burnout and my physical health and attitude are suffering.

Awaking this morning, I was considering to myself, how do I draw on any deep resources to emotionally get through this? Frankly it has been ages since this perfect storm of events have caused such stresses in my work life.

Do you remember when Joshua first took over as the leader of Israel? The nation had just come out of the wilderness, crossing the Jordan on dry ground through that great miracle; they sat up a memorial at the command of the Lord where they would remember that great event. As he stared across the plains of Jericho (henceforth called Gilgal), Joshua was confronted by a man. Listen to Jos 5:13 and following:

"And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, [Art] thou for us, or for our adversaries? And he said, Nay; but [as] captain of the host of the LORD am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my lord unto his servant? And the captain of the LORD'S host said unto Joshua, Loose thy shoe from off thy foot; for the place whereon thou standest [is] holy. And Joshua did so."
God provided the Captain of the Host, an Old Testament Christophany (a preincarnate appearance of Christ)! He was going before the army of Israel as God had promised. We know the tremendous victories as they swept across the Caanaite-held lands!

Wait, arent we suppose to pray without ceasing? Is there not a cause on the earth that is too big for the Lord? But wait, my problems are too big for the Lord....my work circumstances are caanaitish; the Nephalim (the giants) are there! The Baal gods are there! The asherah groves are there! Martin Luther once arose in the morning amidst of all of his earthly trials and complained to his wife about his adversaries. Her response was, "Martin, I am so sorry that God is dead"! " Why Katherine, God is not Dead!" You know her next words....."Stop acting as if He is"! Man, I have to turn this one over to God! I know that the Captain of the Host of the Lord will go before me! How about you? Sherrell

A Warm Welcome

This site is meant to be a home of encouragement; its aim to strengthen and share the Good News with the web traveller. The Richness of Christ is experienced only by those in whom He dwells. It is my goal to insure that you understand the Gospel message and its importance for life. In John Chapter 6, Christ asked his disciples; "...will thou also go away?". Peter's reply? "You have the words of life". Jesus emphasized in Scripture, "I have come to seek and save that which was lost" (Luke 19:10) . In saying this, Christ never presented His Glory and Grace to fill a human need, but to redeem mankind and provide the only genuine spiritual connection to the Creator. Are you connected? Salvation means life; rejection of Christ means eternal death. Read on!
